Electricity is essential for socio-economic development, and thus electricity tariffs are always at the center of national political and economic debates. Tariffs in the regulated market directly affect inflation and also influence consumers’ willingness to adopt Distributed Generation (GD) or migrate to the Free Market (Group A consumers).
Grid tariffs (transmission and distribution) are also crucial in the economic feasibility analysis of a generation project (TUST and TUSD). Therefore, tariff forecasting is essential for both the regulated market (ACR) and the free market (ACL). Understanding the calculation methodologies conducted by ANEEL (Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency) and the political context is crucial for making accurate tariff projections that consistently support decisions in the power sector.
The Envol team has directly participated in over 50 projects focused on tariff calculations as a final objective. Additionally, we have been involved in more than 500 projects where regulated tariffs were projected as an essential element for investment decisions or migration to the Free Market (ACL). Therefore, we have extensive experience in projecting TUSD and TUST. However, we go beyond of providing a simple figure for decision-making; we also provide context to enrich scenario building.
Regulated tariffs are important not only for the migration to the Free Market (ACL) but also in the feasibility analysis of assets
